When we think of the “Nature of God” what is it that comes to our minds as a Christian or an Agnostic individual?  What rises within us to question the very existence of our Lord?  Can we know God?  Are we as mere humans capable of understanding the very “Nature of God,” The all-powerful creator of the universe. Charles Spurgeon Wrote: “Man’s thoughts are for a time, and his ways but For    a season, God is eternal when he thinks his thoughts abide forever, And when he acts his ways are everlasting”.   According to the Christian believer the “Nature of God” possesses a vast amount of knowledge and character. It is eternal!! We see this found throughout the Holy Bible from Genesis to Revelations. Jesus Our Savior, The Son of God who came to reveal the very nature of the Father to His children. God’s character or attributes are many and are revealed to us in the scriptures.

God is Omnipresent, which means He is all present everywhere in the universe simultaneously, He is unrestricted. Ephesians 1:23  Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.   God is Omnipotent, He is all-powerful, unlimited. Matthew 19:26  But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.  God is Omniscient, He knows all things, past, present and future. He is infinitely wise or all-knowing. Acts 15:18  Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.  God is Sovereign, He rules entirely over all creation. He gave man free will to choose.  Romans 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?  God is Wisdom; He is the father that knows best, what is right and when it is right for us.  Romans 11:33  O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! God is Holiness, He is pure there is no sin or evil thought in God. Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.  There is so much more to Gods character; the very essence of His nature can be revealed to us by His word and His Holy Spirit. A few other attributes of God are Righteousness, Merciful, Faithfulness, Goodness, Love, Justice, He is the Trinity, and he is Eternal. He is a very personal God and He wants His children to have an intimate relationship with Him. As a Christian  we are able to know God and have His true nature revealed to us.

An Agnostic thinks that it is impossible to know the truth in the matters of God. It is Not Possible to understand His nature. The agnostic individual claims that there are not enough sufficient grounds or evidence to affirm or deny the existence of God. Some Agnostics believe that there is a God even though they believe that they cannot know Him, However because they believe this they will conduct their lives accordingly.  Other agnostic live their lives as though God does not exist and do not adhere to any possibility of divine retribution. These agnostic groups are broken down into two categories. Agnostic theists and Agnostic atheist.  Agnostic theists are those who have a tendency to accept that God is possible, but they also believe in many other things and philosophies i.e. Greek mythology and Greek gods. Agnostic atheists are those who believe that it is improbable that God exists. They have a tendency to lean their beliefs towards science and evolution. As a Christian and believer we are aware that we are able to know the very “Nature of God.” God has placed within us the desire to seek Him.  God has given to us the Holy Scriptures filled with the knowledge of His nature.  He has given us the Holy Spirit to lead us into the deeper wisdom of Him; To transform us into His image and to give us His characteristics.  God is “El Elyon” The most high God!!!  He is our provider Jehovah Jireh (Genesis 22:12), Our healer Jehovah Rapha ( Exodus 15:26), Our Sheppard Jehovah Ra’ah ( Psalm 23:1), Our peace Jehovah shalom (Judges 6:24), Our righteousness Jehovah Tsidkene (Jeremiah 23:6),  He is Immanuel “God With Us “(Isaiah 7:14). Since God is with us this means His nature can be known to us. This gives the believer the ability to understand and possess the knowledge of His infinite nature….. This brings liberty to all who thirst after God!!!  We must follow after the leading of the Holy Spirit.  God has created man in His image; He wants His creation to possess His attributes. It was His intention from the beginning of creation that we know and understand Him in a very intimate personal way. God breathed His precious life into Adam at the time He created man. Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.  A living soul that has God’s spirit and God’s nature. An agnostic could not even attempt to understand how to apply the nature of God to his or her life. They must first seek God and God will reveal Himself to them. They may be inherently good people but to know God is to possess even greater knowledge, wisdom and freedom. It is to be connected to a divine understanding that only knowing God could give an individual in his or her life.  Agnostics are separated from God and all who are separated from God are spiritually dead. Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:”   They cannot understand the “Nature of God” because they have hardened their hearts towards Him. They are blinded by the darkness in their hearts, the darkness which the enemy holds them captive too. As Christians we must help liberate them!!!   God wants all of His children to dwell in His Kingdom on earth. We must pray for all whom are lost and without the knowledge of God and His amazing, wonderful characteristics. God has placed His nature in us all. As believers we must stay connected to God and become more like Him. We must lead Agnostics and all other non-believers into the truth of the Living God; Lead them into the revelation knowledge of God. Give them exposure to God’s knowledge and nature and plant a seed in their heart. God has placed within all of us an inquisitive nature, a seeking nature. Even the Agnostics and Unbelievers of this world seek higher wisdom and they will adhere to things which can be proven.  To lead Agnostics and others into the truth of God and His nature we should first start with what is tangible to them.  We should reach into their lives and meet them at the place they are at. We should pull them up higher and introduce them to “El Elyon” The most High God!!  He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. He is the all-powerful, all-present, all-knowing Sovereign God. Amen!!

May God Bless You & Keep you Embraced in His Loving Presence.                                                                                                                                                                           ~Sincerely Cindy♥

  1. “Even the Agnostics and Unbelievers of this world seek higher wisdom and they will adhere to things which can be proven.”

I’m trying to familiarize myself with the works of Kierkegaard, Descartes, Heidegger on faith; but with the caveat of St. Augustine that the sole ideal reader of faith is God himself.

Whatever little faith we have should help us articulate our belief, but be humble knowing that the wisdom of this world is folly with God (1 Corinthians 3:19 ).

    All the best!
