“I AM”

“I AM” are two simple words but represent an omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient God.  In the Old Testament we see I Am mentioned numerous times. The infamous scripture that we relate it to most is found in Exodus 3:14 when God spoke unto Moses at the burning bush. God revealed to Moses that He is Jehovah, I AM, THAT I AM.  In Genesis 15:1 we see God assuring Abram that He is his shield (I am thy shield) and will protect him. Then there is Jacob when he wrestles with the angels; God shows us that He is the God of Bethel.  God is a God of deliverance He brought His children (I am the Lord their God) out of the bondage of Egypt. In Psalms 35:3 God speaks to David and lets him know that he is His salvation. (I am thy salvation) God is wisdom and understanding (I am understanding) He is our counselor.  The Song of Solomon reveals to us that God (I am) the Rose of Sharon, and the Lily of the Valleys.God (I am the Lord thy God) is the saviour as seen in Isaiah 43:3. God is our comforter (I am he that comforteth you) and He is the Son of man. God is of sovereignty (For I am the LORD), he does not change. There are many more scriptures that I could make reference to show the “I AM” of the Old Testament. We see God in every book of the Old Testament. He carries on the “I AM” series into the New Testament as well. There are a great amount of references throughout the gospels and the book of revelations.  In the Gospel of John we see seven recorded verses which contain the “I AM” series.  John shows us that those that come to Jesus shall never hunger or thirst (I am the bread of life). We find out from John’s writings that Jesus (I am) is the light of the world, Jesus is the door (I am the door) of our salvation.   Jesus is our Good Sheppard who gave His life for us.  Jesus (I am) is the Resurrection and the Life and we must believe in order to receive.   Jesus says I am the way and you must go through the Son to get to the Father.   Jesus (I am) is our vine and we must abide in Him.   We also see records of “I AM” written in Matthew; such as I am with you always until the end.   Then we see in Revelations that God is the beginning and the end. I AM Alpha and Omega.   He is God whom searches our heart; Our Lord (I am) is our Morning Star.  Once again I could mention many more scriptures found in the New Testament to convey the message series of “I AM”.

How does the “I AM” in the New Testament relate to the “I AM” in the Old Testament?  It goes back to the fact that Jesus was the “I AM before the foundation of the world. The Old Testament is the foreshadow of things to come. The New Testament is the promise fulfilled. A type in the Old Testament can refer to a person or other things as well. When we look at the Old Testament we see types that reflect the Christ to come in the new covenant. For example Moses was a type in the Old Testament, while Jesus would be the fulfilled type in the New Testament. Moses delivered God’s people of Israel out of the bondage of Farrow in Egypt. Jesus delivered us from sin and death through His cruxification and resurrection.  A type can also be a place for example; Bethel in the Old Testament where Jacob wrestled with God…. The heavens were open that day at Bethel and Jacob got touched. In the New Testament we could see the place being the human heart; which Jesus’s is the door to the Father in heaven and Jesus comes in to have His Spirit touch our hearts and dwell in us. As written in Malachi 3:6 “I am the Lord, I change not”. God is who He has always been from Genesis to Revelations.  The Scriptures reveal that God has always been our Comforter and Savior.  King David in the Old Testament knew this very well; just as the disciples in the New Testament knew Jesus and knew His presense well. Throughout the Old Testament God was building the foundation for His Son to be sent into the world. God was establishing that He is one in three persons; as seen throughout the whole bible.  You must apply the whole counsel of God in order to for the “I AM “to be recognized. In conclusion we must recognize that God is who He says He is. He is the “I AM” from heaven to earth, from the earth to the grave, from the grave and back up to heaven. He is the Rose of Sharon, the Bright Morning Star, Alpha, Omega, the Good Sheppard, the Presence at the burning bush, the

“I AM”.  He is our Farther, Our comforter, and a friend whom sticks closer than a brother. His NAME is ABOVE every name no matter which testament or which name you are using. He is the “I AM” of our Holy Bible and this is who He always was and will be who He always is.

In Jesus Name….Amen.

Kingdom Blessing to you!!    ~Sincerely Cindy ♥
