The early church is the period which changed the world. It is known as the period in which the disciple Luke wrote about in the book of Acts. It is the period between the ascension of our Lord Jesus and the imprisonment of the Apostle Paul. It is the birth of the gospel being preached in the world; as per the instruction given by Jesus. Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. When we reflect on the early church; what quality or characteristics are represented that make it appear so vibrantly? The secret to the early churches vibrancy rest in the passion and power of “The Word”, “The Name” and “The Holy Spirit”; It brings the ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ to life!! It was a time of abounding Faith in a new-found direction for the way to a better life. It was a new dispensation; known as the dispensation of grace…. Abounding grace given by our Lord Jesus Christ!! When we make reference to “The word” what is it that we are actually talking about? The word is the written word of God; It is the bible. The word gives us knowledge and power. We see in the early church that the spoken word or preached word brings salvation and deliverance. Peter and Paul taught and preached the word. By the power of the spoken word, the gospel spread throughout the land and was received by the Jewish people and the Gentiles. Acts 5:42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. By the act of preaching and honoring the word the message spread throughout the world. It was God’s plan for the word to go forth; He will always have someone to preach His word, “God never leaves himself without a witness”. The Apostle Peter demonstrates the power of the word through healing the lame man at gate beautiful; just by speaking healing to him. Acts 3:6-7 6Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. 7And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. Speaking Gods Word brings life or death and we must always choose life to bring the blessings of Our Lord into our own lives. Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit God’s word is power!!! God’s word is knowledge and wisdom!! We must read God’s word to obtain all He has for us. God spoke this world into existence. That is amazing power!!! “The Name”, what does it mean when we say the name? We are referring to the name of Our Savior Jesus…. There is power in His Name; we call upon His name and He will move the mountains, He will set the captives free and He will heal the sick. He will cast out demons and He will bring light where there is darkness. Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. The Apostles of Jesus Christ understood the power of His name!! Praying the name of Jesus and Praying to Jesus released Peter from prison; The Angel of the Lord set Peter free from the hands of Herod Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. By preaching His name people came to be baptized. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. The Power of His Glorious Name is all the power we need to overcome the flesh and this world. John 1:12-13 12But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God
“The Holy Spirit” who is He and what is His amazing power? The Holy Spirit is the comforter, the one who dwells in us that Jesus sent to us…… He gives us power!!! Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth The early church faced great trials and the Apostles of Christ had to rely on the Holy Spirits strength and power; given by Him. We recognize in the formation of the early church that the Lord was creating a foundation that was intended to be “The Way” for His Children. It was Gods intention for us to have power and for the Holy Spirit to impart Gods gifts into us. 1 Corinthians 12:1 & 4-6 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant 4There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all, We see through out the book of Acts that the Apostles had the Holy Spirit and His gifts. They went out into the land and healed the sick, and cast out demons. They preached with great boldness and knew the power of the Spirit that dwelled in them. They knew they’re Savior and the mission that had been given to them by the Lord Jesus Christ. They surrendered their Hearts and their Lives to the cause of Christ!! The Word, The Name and The Holy Spirit brought about great change to the world during the early church. That change has brought growth and empowerment to every believer then and now. We are always growing in the faith of our Father’s word; it brings new revelation to the believer’s heart and leads us into a deeper understanding of our Lord. The power of the name brings us freedom…. we have been redeemed!!!! Nothing can take away the gift of grace that Jesus has given us. The Holy Spirit gives us peace beyond our understanding, Wisdom and Power beyond our own natural capabilities and the Fathers Love beyond our own ability to comprehend. The combination of The Word, The Name and The Holy Spirit makes us UNSTOPPABLE. To demonstrate the true power of Christ, We must learn to focus our lives around the Word, the Name and the Holy Spirit. For God so loved us that He gave His son. He gave the early church the power of all that His son was. We today still have access to that power by His Spirit that dwells in us. The book of Acts is a book in the New Testament that does not have an Amen at the end of it. The book does not have an Amen because it does not end…it goes on until the return of Christ. It was the Heavenly Fathers intention that His Church Rise and Preach His word until that time. The Lord is calling us to demonstrate His power and His will into the earth.
Do not allow the world to transform you….You have been given the power to transform the world!!! In Jesus Name Amen!!
God Bless You & All Who Are Close to your Heart!! ~Sincerely Cindy ♥
