A Quest for Revival……
Resurrecting the Heart of God
In Christian history we have three notable Great Awakening periods which occurred between the mid-seventeen hundreds to early nineteen hundreds. During specific periods in this era of time there was a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a renewed interest in pursuing a godly life. We saw strong leaders rising up to challenge the social status and church doctrine of the day. We saw men like Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield, Charles Finney and Dwight Moody leading the way into great spiritual awakenings. These men were all filled with a fiery, passionate zeal for Christ. They were anointed men of God who pursued the call of God on their lives and became known for their successes in the “Great Revivals”. So, what is it that causes revival? Is it something that we can achieve on our own or does God have to ordain it for a particular time and place? Are revivals a thing of the past or can we still experience a re-awakening in our present day churches and cities? Have we all just become fear filled individuals and fallen asleep? Or are we still seeking the truth and the righteous path? Today’s generation seems to have become very apathetic to Spiritual things, but that does not mean that God does not want to move in this generation. Let’s look at the word revival and what it means to the world and to the church. The word revival according to Webster dictionary means: restoration to life, consciousness, vigor, strength, an awakening, in a church or community, of interest in and care for matters relating to personal religion, an evangelistic service or a series of services for the purpose of effecting a religious awakening: to hold a revival. In a Biblical Kingdom sense revival means to renew, to restore, or to give new life and bring about a change of heart. Great leaders of the past had achieved revival because they understood that God is the same yesterday as He is today. They achieved revival because they had a thirst for the things of God; no matter the cost to them. Their hearts were softened to hear the voice of the Spirit and God used them mightily. They had a life devoted to prayer and seeking the will of God in their lives. They had a heart for the people and wanted to bring restoration to the lives of the hurting, the sick and the lost. They knew God personally and had developed an ongoing relationship with Him. They possessed the power of the Holy Spirit and demonstrated that power where ever they went. They became the Heavenly Father’s Ambassadors on the earth for that season. God is still seeking; willing, obedient servants to bring His love, His wisdom, and His message to the wavering souls of our day. The world seems like it is unreachable and is in chaos. It seems like we will never see that Great Spirit of Revival again. It seems as though people have turned away from God and even doubt His existence. However, this is not the truth. We have seen this spirit of disillusion many times throughout the bible and in Christian history. It is a blanket of evil covering the spiritual eyes from the truth. It is the deceiver trying to lead the souls of mankind into an eternity of hell; it is the spirit of anti-christ. People have fallen into the plan of deception that the enemy is spewing out. However, we know that his time is short and that God is still in control. Where God is there is Life, there is Hope, there is Restoration, and there is “Revival” We who are servants of the Lord must turn our hearts toward His purpose for His Glory. We must separate ourselves unto the Lord and become Holy unto God, so that we can be used mightily. God is seeking a people who are after His own heart, just like King David. With a growing changing world filled with the newest technology it hardly seems like there is any room for an archaic God. A God whose word seems only applicable in the past and has no barring on today’s world, A God who allows such turmoil and unrest to continue in this modern-day of evolving mental assent, and spiritual wickedness. Where is God? Where is the Church? Have we all fallen into the slumber of weakened state of non-existing spiritual power? We the Church; the true followers of Christ have not fallen by the way side but are steering ourselves toward a greater awakening. We the followers of our Heavenly Father have seen Him move in a great capacity for His children. We have seen Him part the Red Sea for Israel, We have seen Him raise up great prophets, prophetess, kings and apostle since the dawn of time. God would never leave His Children; His called out ones, His chosen, and the followers of His Son. We are to trust in His presence and demonstrate the power of His Spirit that He has given to us. We are to stand in agreement with one another to bring unity to the body of Christ. Where there is agreement there is power, where there is power you will find the Glory of God. Our Lord is in the midst of His children. We must diligently seek the Lord in humility and love with great reverence. Our God is an Awesome God and He still wants to move mightily in the midst of those who desire His presence. We need to seek Him to bring about restoration to the spiritually dead places in this world. Choose Life, Choose Freedom, and Choose to seek God’s Face and Heart. We as followers of the Faith in Christ Jesus have God’s blessing to bring about change in the world and the church. We need to follow His voice and His path; God always is willing to show Himself and revive the people but there must be a SEEKING HEART. We who walk with Christ, walk in a Revived state… Let Christ Live!!!
Let the Remnants Heart Rise!!! In Jesus Name Amen!!
May God Bless You & Keep You, Through all the days of your Life ~Sincerely Cindy ♥
