Jehovah Rapha means the Lord is My Healer. We see the Lord as our healer throughout the bible. In the Old Testament He is the great physician when the Israelites were in the desert wondering and were murmuring because they had no food or drink and afraid they would perish. God assures them that He will not put any diseases upon them. Exodus 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. In Isaiah 30:26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. We see the Lord healing up all there wounds. The Lord is the balm of Gilead, the world may use many medicines and still not be healed, but the Lord heals. Jeremiah 46:11 Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: in vain shalt thou use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured. We see in the Old testament King David and his army who were in the wilderness running from King Saul and had no physician among them. They trusted the Lord and walked in the blessing of divine health. Then in Isaiah we see the prophecy of our great healer to come in the New Testament. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Jesus the son of God is now the great physician in the New Testament. He bore all our sickness upon himself on the cross as seen in 1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Jesus demonstrated His authority and power of healing on many occasions. He healed the blind, the deaf and the dumb. The lame got up and walked, and he cast out spirits of infirmity, demonic spirits and a boy who had the palsy was cured. Examples of New Testament scriptures reveal Jesus as healer are as follows: Matthew 12:22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. Matthew 21:14 And the blindand the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. Matthew 4:24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. Matthew 15:30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them.
The apostle’s continued healing people in the name of Jesus after He was put to the Cross. We also have been given the authority to heal the sick and cast out demons because His Spirit dwells in us. Jesus bore all our sin and sickness on the Cross and we need to accept that we are already healed. We walk with in the Divine Nature of our Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. When you have such a nature dwelling in you how can you not do even greater works in the name of our Savoir Jesus. John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. In Jesus Name…Amen!!
