Jehovah Jireh means the Lord is Our Provider. He provides in all things pertaining to life. In the Old Testament we see God providing for Abraham when He instructed him to take his son up to the mountain and offer him as a test. Abraham was obedient and just as he was to kill his son God provides another sacrifice. Genesis 22:13 “And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son” When Moses led the people in the wilderness God provided for them for forty years. Their clothes or shoes did not wear out and they always had food and water. Deuteronomy 8:3-4 “And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every [word] that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years”. Then we see Elijah over taken with exhaustion and running from Jezebel and just wanting to give up his life and God provides for him. 1 Kings 19:5-6 “5And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. 6And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again”. We see God saving His Prophet Jeremiah from the shadows of death when they put him down into the dungeon, in the mud with no provision. God had His servant there to intervene and save his life. Jeremiah 38:10-11 “10Then the king commanded Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Take from hence thirty men with thee, and take up Jeremiah the prophet out of the dungeon, before he die. 11So Ebedmelech took the men with him, and went into the house of the king under the treasury, and took thence old cast clouts and old rotten rags, and let them down by cords into the dungeon to Jeremiah. Our Lord always knows are needs.
In the New Testament we see Jesus call upon the Lord to show how trusting in Him will bring provision for your needs. We see Jesus feeding the multitudes with only seven loaves of bread and a few fish. Matthew 15:34-38 “34And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. 35And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 37And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. 38And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children”. Jesus will calm the seas in your live just as he did for the disciples Mark 4:37-40 “37And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?”
The Lord is the Rock which we stand upon, He is Our Provider. We must trust and seek the Lord for everything. By seeking Him first all things shall be given to us. Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” The Lord wants to give all things unto us as written in Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”. Like any good Father the Lord wants to provide for His children. The Father gave His only son so that none of His children would perish. There is no greater sacrifice than giving up your only son for the sake of our salvation. That is truly the greatest provision that our Heavenly Father has given us. Be thankful today for all of the Heavenly Father’s provision in your life . Seek Him continually and He will bring you through your greatest test and tribulations. Amen
May God Bless You & Keep You Embraced in His Presence!! ~Sincerely Cindy ♥
