This morning I was up at 4:00am…Although I do love the early morning rises this was a little early even for me…there was no going back to sleep, so I decided why fight it…just get up and go to the gym now!! A friend had gifted me some gym time and although I do need it…at first I really didn’t want to use it. However, I didn’t want to dishonour my friend by not using the gift he thoughtfully gave to me either…so; I have been doing some boxing!!

While I was at the gym just punching the bag and pondering life; a gentleman who was working out near me, smiled and said “the way you are hitting that bag makes me think you have something heavy on your mind”…to which I just smiled and reluctantly responded. He then proceeded to say “Are you shadow boxing with yourself or is there someone you want to hit…to which I smiled and nodded my head no. Normally, I don’t talk to anyone at the gym other than the usual pleasantries of good morning, but he was persistent …He then went on to say “ You know some of the greatest contenders have had some pretty serious falls before they ever made their comebacks” I thought to myself…What an odd thing to say! He then went on to talk about two of my favorite boxers, James Braddock (Cinderella Man) and Muhammad Ali…To those of you who don’t know their stories… One is a story of a boxer (Cinderella man) who loses everything because of life’s circumstance (broken hand, the 1930s depression) and the other is a story of Ali who makes a choice to stand on his beliefs and not accept the war draft, which sends his career into a downward spiral… To which they both end up making exceptional comebacks!!

I have to say he definitely got my attention; I understand the odds of someone making such a profound statement and then using my two favourite boxers to validate their point, was highly unlikely. I began to recognize that the Holy Spirit was working through this man at this early hour in the gym…So I thought I had better pay attention!!

He then went on to say “I see you’re a fighter” I wasn’t really sure where he was going with this…then he proceeded with “You know a great contender will always surround themselves with the best people who support their dream”… “It takes a lot of people to get a great contender into that ring” I recognized that he was using an metaphor to convey his heavenly message…something that God knows I would understand. He then when on to say “The dream doesn’t die until the dreamer does” He then looked at me very boldly and intently and said “Do you understand what I am telling you?” to which I nodded and smiled to confirm that I had received the revelation of this blessing from heaven… he then returned the smile and said good and then just walked away.

I turned my thoughts back towards the punching bag and began to redirect my mind intentionally toward the message that I had just been so gracefully given…. There have been so many times that I have sowed a word into others’ lives but so few have ever been given to me…and yet here an unsuspecting stranger took a moment out of his life to sow a profound seed from heaven. I was very thankful for the gift of this stranger and for the gift that my friend had so generously sowed for my time here at the gym, which ended up being a divine opportunity for me to receive from my Heavenly Father. God knew that I was no stranger to boxing…I grew up around many boxers and spent a lot of time in the gym…I can see why He chose this avenue to send His messenger.

As I left the gym this morning …the warmth of the rising sun was shifting the cool morning air and I could hear the whispers of the Holy Spirit speaking into my heart saying “The season of chaos is over….Look toward the hope on the horizon” To which I responded, Yes Lord I will….
I actually really like the gym…the only downside is going out in the morning when it is so dark!!…. I guess it’s a good thing that I decided to take boxing instead of TiChi

May God Bless You and Keep You ~Sincerely Pastor Cindy 👼
